The Benjamin Mecz Foundation was created in 2018 after the sudden death of our friend, Benjamin Mecz, who died in an accident. When Benjamin passed away we, his friends, felt the urge to hold together in order to keep the common bond he had formed around him. In view of this wish, we wanted to find possibilities to save and continue his understanding of togetherness. Therefore we started collaborating with each other to create a fundament to honor his values and the way he saw and ambitioned art. Benjamin was a true believer in collaborative projects and it's potential. A mind-set and approach he also put at the core of his own artistic practice. With building this foundation we support and focus on art projects that work within relational and collaborative thinking to further evolve a web of collective and cultural outcome as a gesture to remember Benjamin as our friend, and as an artist.
